Carpet Cleaning Business
Opportunity
The carpet cleaning business opportunity is still an
excellent means for someone to take their first step to being
self employed.
Through the years, the carpet cleaning business opportunity
has only gotten better due to relatively low startup costs and
some great advances in technology. It really doesn't matter
where you live, small town or large city, there will always be
a need for professional carpet cleaning. Many feel that the
larger franchise carpet cleaning businesses are difficult too
compete with, but in reality their operations can benefit the
independent business owner.
Having operated cleaning companies for decades, I'm actually
amazed at the spread of franchise operations. I've always tried
to remind new business owners of the reasons they first
considered a carpet cleaning business opportunity to begin
with. They all wanted to work for themselves and control their
own business. When you buy a franchise, you do get the benefit
of the big name. But you also will end up cleaning only with
their equipment and technology and paying them monthly for the
privilege of using their name. In addition, you'll find in most
cases all your supplies must be purchase directly through the
franchise. This seems awfully close to being employed by
someone else in my opinion.
The second thing to consider when looking at the carpet
cleaning business opportunity is the equipment "packages"
offered factory direct by some manufacturers. It might be the
best equipment on the market but if you do your homework,
you'll find a lot of useless products being thrown in to raise
the perceived value of the package. Of course this isn't the
case in all packages, but in most cases the business owner can
do better by researching the cleaning business and buying
exactly the tools he wants. For example, I know of more then
one small business owner with a garage full of machines and
chemicals that sales representatives included in various
packages and they always attested to their great value. Yet
years later, most of those bonus products are still boxed and
never have been used.
The key to being successful with a carpet cleaning business
opportunity is learning the trade itself and focusing on
old-fashioned service. Most modern operators have missed this
basic point. By following a trusted business plan, the small
operator can easily compete with the biggest names in the
carpet cleaning industry.
